A 20-year-old motorcyclist identified as Avishkar Ishmael of Tain, Corentyne, Berbice, succumbed to injuries he sustained in an accident on Thursday along the Rose Hall Town access road, Berbice.
Police said the accident occurred at about 16:00 hrs and involved motorcar HD 1189 driven by Navin Narine, 43, of Hampshire, Corentyne, Berbice and motorcycle CM 1602 owned and driven by Ishmael.
It is alleged that Narine was heading south along the road while Ishmael was speeding east when he collided with the front section of Narine’s car.
As a result, Ishmael fell into a nearby drain on the southeastern side. He was picked up in a conscious state by public-spirited citizens and Police ranks and taken to the Port Mourant Hospital.
He was subsequently transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital and later referred to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he died at around noon.
The News Room understands that the young man sustained multiple injuries about his body and head.
Another young life lost on the road via motor cycle. I Honestly think their should be a separate road for these cyclists they are too vulnerable within heavy traffic and sometimes they ride all over the place. So sad with so many young life snuff out we will be out of people for the next generation
