An accident on the Zealand Public Road, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara (ECD) Tuesday morning claimed the life of 71-year-old Beersain Udho, a motorcyclist of Huntley, Mahaicony.
Police Headquarters said in a statement that an investigation is ongoing into the accident which occurred around 08:20hrs.
The driver of the motorcar, PNN 2196, who has been identified as Philbert Alves, a 63-year-old resident of Mahaicony is currently in Police custody assisting with the investigation.
According to a Police report, Alves was heading west along the public road while Udho was riding behind the vehicle.
Alves slowed down and then turned north, during which Udho collided with the right-side front door of the motorcar, Police noted.
As a result of the collision, Udho received injuries on his body.
He was picked up by the driver in an unconscious condition and taken to Mahaicony Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
His body is at Bailey’s Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.
