Selvin Singh, 52, a driver of Zorg en Vlygt, Essequibo was on Monday placed on $150,000 bail after he was charged with the rape of a child under 16.
Police Headquarters reported that the incident occurred between May 31, 2022 and June 7, 2022.
Singh was not required to plead to the charge which was read to him by Magistrate Esther Sam when he appeared at the Charity Magistrate’s Court.
Bail was granted with the condition that Singh stays 100 feet away from the victim and not make any contact with her or her family.
The case was adjourned to September 29 for disclosure of statements.
