RDC robbery: Another suspect captured

Hours after Police reported that one of the five suspects involved in the robbery at the Regional Democratic Office in Region Six was shot dead and another captured, it was confirmed that a third suspect was apprehended.

Police Headquarters stated that Superintendent Stanley, who is performing the duty as Commander for Regional Division #6 confirmed that another suspect was captured Wednesday afternoon. That suspect is in custody assisting with the ongoing investigations.

The suspect’s name is Lawrence Vanlewyn and he has been described as a “known character” who has had several brushes with the law.

He was slated to appear in Court today in Berbice concerning an armed robbery charge.

Police are pursuing the other suspects as investigations continue.

Earlier Wednesday, three suspects escaped Police after there was a shootout. One man was shot dead while Tarrique Pollard called ‘Tari’, a 33-year-old taxi driver from Mahicony, East Coast Demerara, was apprehended.

Altogether, the five persons are suspects in the robbery at the RDC building. Reports are that an undisclosed amount of cash was carted off with.
