Police find over 8lbs of marijuana at Berbice fisherman’s home

A 26-year-old fisherman from Sheet Anchor, East Canje Berbice is in police custody after authorities found a quantity of cannabis at his home during a search.

The News Room was informed that a police mobile patrol went to the fisherman’s home this morning at about 09:30hrs and found six parcels wrapped with transparent plastic and black plastic bags, along with bed sheets and towels.

Closer inspection of what was in the parcels revealed a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis. The narcotic was weighed and amounted to 3, 840 grams or 8.4 pounds.

The fisherman was arrested and is assisting with investigations

    Hey, let the fisherman go. He’s from my village. Exxon is the cause why fishes are scarce and catches are less.
    He has family to feed and has diversified to continue making a living. The Govt. of Guyana should commend this young man for his effort to make a living because the fishes are hiding.
