Motorcyclist, 30, dies in Garnett Street accident

A 30-year-old motorcyclist died on Sunday morning after he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a parked van along Garnett Street, Kitty, Georgetown.

The dead man has been identified as Albert Alwin Headley of Henry Street, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown.

The accident occurred around 06:20hrs.

Police Headquarters reported that Headley was heading west along Garnett Street on motorcycle, CM 462, at a fast rate.

While in the vicinity of Red Bar, Headley lost control of the motorcycle.

“The left front portion of the motorcycle collided with the right side rear portion of motor van, GAE 6248 which was parked facing West on the southern side of Garnett Street,” a statement from Police Headquarters noted.

As a result of the collision, Headley was flung some distance into the air.

He received injuries about his body.

The ambulance service was summoned and Headley was pronounced dead by a doctor from the Georgetown Public Hospital.

His body is at the Memorial Gardens Mortuary, awaiting a post-mortem examination.
