The motorcar involved in a hit and run accident that last week claimed the life of a truck driver was found on Tuesday with extensive damages at a yard in Victoria, East Coast Demerara.

Police Headquarters in a statement said detectives found the vehicle (PAD 9709) at about 09:35 hrs after Police ranks from the Vigilance Police Station acted in information and went to the location.

The car was in a secured yard and had extensive damages to the left side front portion, the statement said.

Adzel Inniss, 25, of Burma Housing Scheme, Mahaicony, ECD died as a result of the accident. Police Headquarters reported that the accident occurred at about 04:30 hrs on Friday, September 22, 2023.

Inniss had stopped at the Chico Ramas Gas Station at Coldingen, ECD and exited the truck (GAC 1443) which he was driving and reportedly stepped into the path of a black Toyota Fielder Wagon.

Police said the driver of the Fielder Wagon fled the scene after the accident.

Inniss was picked up by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

On Tuesday, the vehicle was taken to the Cove and John Police Station as further investigations continue.

My comments before on this article, is the truck driver is at fault since he got out of his vehicle and did not look for oncoming traffic-reportedly.
The wagon that hit him, probably could not stop in time since, perhaps, he did not expect someone exiting.
However, he, like others, should approach stopped vehicles with caution-slow down and keep RIGHT if possible.
Now, he is in trouble for leaving the scene of a deadly accident- hit and run. Everyone seems in a hurry to get somewhere quickly and speeding is the first choice.
