Police on the Essequibo Coast in Region Two, while on patrol duties on Thursday, went to Onderneeming/Sand Pit where they arrested George Aubrey Archer, a 72-year-old pensioner from Suddie Public Road, Essequibo Coast.
The ranks had earlier requested to conduct a search on Archer and during that search, they found a .32 Taurus Pistol containing one magazine and seventeen 17 .32 live rounds in the waist of his pants.
Archer was questioned whether he was the holder of a firearm license, to which he replied “no”.
Archer was told of the offence committed and cautioned, to which he replied: “Officer, the gun is me own and me gat it to protect me self.”
The pensioner was arrested and escorted to the Suddie Police Station along with the Firearm and Ammunition.
Archer is presently in police custody assisting with the ongoing investigation.
