A violent storm in the community of Jawalla, Region Seven (Cuyuni- Mazaruni), killed three persons on Thursday and injured four others including a baby.

The News Room previously reported that the three people who died are: Celeste Albert, 34; Selina Hope, 69; and Godfrena Fredericks, 25.

All three women were farmers in the communities.

Police Headquarters on Friday reported that four other persons were injured. Those injured are Ramesh Michael, 23, who suffered a fractured skull; Teddy Richmond, 33, who received injuries to his chest and abdomen; Shanvio Hunter, one, who received injuries to his arm and leg; and Lamona Hunter, 30, who has fractured legs and hands.

Police noted that there was a heavy downpour of rain with gusting winds during the storm, which saw several trees being uprooted. Ten persons were at a farming camp owned by Olivia Henry when a large tree nearby suddenly fell and crashed down on the camp killing the three women and injuring the others.

The injured persons were taken to Kamarang Hospital for treatment while the dead bodies are at the Jawalla Health Post, awaiting arrangements for post-mortem examinations.
