Mahaica teen dies, four other friends injured in Nabacalis accident

An accident on the Nabaclis Public Road, East Coast Demerara in the wee hours of Sunday has claimed the life of an 18-year-old man.

The deceased has been identified as Ghanesh Mahabal of Belmomt, Mahaica, ECD.

The car was driven by a 28-year-old man of Belmont with the other occupants identified as Mahendra Ramnarine, 17, and Mark Thomas, 18, both of Supply Mahaica along with Vickey Seeram, 32, of Chelsea Park, Mahaica.

According to a police report, the car was proceeding east along the Nabaclis Public Road, and while negotiating a right turn, the driver lost control and collided with a utility pole.

The vehicle ended up in a nearby drain.

As a result of the collision, the driver and the occupant in the front left seat were flung out of the vehicle.

The other three occupants in the back seat were trapped in the car.

With the assistance of public-spirited citizens, the motor car was pushed over and the driver and the four occupants were placed in an ambulance and taken to Georgetown Public Hospital, where Ghanesh Mahabal was pronounced dead.

The driver, along with the remaining occupants, are currently receiving medical treatment at the institution.

Investigations are ongoing.

    I am against these speedsters damaging public property, owned by taxpayers and Government corporations.
    Hope, Anil, the AG will go after this driver for replacement costs, inclusive of labor, transportation etc.
    Who cares if they want to kill themselves ?
