Cops looking for doctor who allegedly raped pregnant woman

Police investigators have confirmed that a doctor is wanted for questioning in relation to the allegation that he raped a pregnant woman.

The incident reportedly took place on September 24 at Eccles, East Bank Demerara.

Police sources told the News Room that a report was made and an investigation was launched into the incident. But to date, investigators have not been able to locate the suspect. The alleged victim has been identified as a Venezuelan national.

The News Room understands that this is not the first time the doctor has been accused of sexual assault.

Back in 2022, he was dismissed from the Georgetown Public Hospital after management found him guilty of committing the act.

He was also reportedly at the centre of an investigation into a fire that ripped through the echocardiography laboratory at the GPHC on January 1, 2022.

An investigation into that fire confirmed that it was an act of arson.
