Permaul to lead strong Guyana team in Super50; injured Paul to miss tournament

As widely expected, experienced left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul has been appointed captain of the Guyana Harpy Eagles squad for this year’s CG United Super50 Cup from October 17 to November 11 in Trinidad.

Permaul takes over from Leon Johnson, who retired earlier this year after leading Guyana to a sixth title in the Professional Cricket League era.

Wicketkeeper/batter Tevin Imlach, who led Demerara to the Inter-county title last weekend, toppling the Permaul-led Berbice side, has been appointed Vice-captain.

Notably, all-rounder Keemo Paul has not recovered from the injury sustained in the Caribbean Premier League and will miss the Super50.

Permaul aside, the Harpy Eagles squad boasts eight other players with international experience, namely Shimron Hetmyer, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Romario Shepherd, Gudakesh Motie, Sherfane Rutherford, Kevin Sinclair, Chandrapaul Hemraj and Ronsford Beaton.
