The 25-year-old truck driver, who allegedly struck down 63-year-old security guard Patricia Hutson on Sunday morning, was granted $1 million bail on Tuesday.
Charria Naitram, 26, of Supply Village, East Bank Demerara, appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Fabayor Azore where he was charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
He pleaded not guilty and was placed on bail. The accused was also charged with driving an unlicensed motor vehicle, uninsured motor vehicle, and uncertified motor vehicle.
He pleaded not guilty to each of these charges and was placed on $25,000 for each offence. The matter was adjourned to November 21, 2023, for report.
Hutson was fatally struck down by Naitram while waiting to cross the Ogle Public road, East Coast Demerara.
