The Guyana Cricket Board on Thursday afternoon announced that fast bowler Isai Thorne and all-rounder Quentin Sampson have been awarded Guyana Harpy Eagles Franchise contracts, after two spots on the original contract list became vacant.

With opener Tagenarine Chanderpaul and left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie receiving Cricket West Indies Retainer Contracts, the opportunity arose for two players to be contracted by the Harpy Eagles.

“The players (Sampson and Thorne) were given the nod following their progression and development in recent times. Thorne, the Windies youth pacer has been making waves with his liveliness and his budding potential, currently plying his trade with the Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) in the ongoing Super50,” the Guyana Cricket Board said in a press release.

“Sampson, the hard-hitting Essequibian all-rounder, is among the most devastating batters on the local scene, known for his power-hitting prowess, as well as his ability to produce wickets with the ball. Sampson is currently with the Eagles team on tour as they seek to bring home this year’s 50-over title.”

The release added that “Thorne and Sampson are deserving players being handed a big opportunity to further their careers.”
