Man brutally murdered in La Penitence house; one of four suspects arrested

Police have arrested one of four persons who brutally murdered a man on Tuesday afternoon at Middle Road, La Penitence, Georgetown.

Dead is Amit Singh; a Police report noted that Singh was lured by the four suspects to a house at Middle Road La Penitence after they claimed that they were in possession of gold for sale.

While at the house, the four suspects brutally murdered the victim and wrapped his body in a sheet. The suspects then fled the scene along with the cash that the victim had taken to purchase the gold. The perpetrators then locked the building with the victim’s body inside.

Police suspect that Singh was clubbed over the head.

Based on intelligence received, Police ranks from the Criminal Investigations Department arrested one of the perpetrators, and he has since confessed to the crime.

He remains in custody as the probe continues.
