A pedal cyclist died early Friday morning after he reportedly rode into the path of a motor car at Meten-Meer-Zorg Public Road, West Coast Demerara.
Dead is Cesar Olivares, a 40-year-old Venezuelan national who was living at Meten-Meer-Zorg.
Police said a 25-year-old Leonora, West Coast Demerara woman was driving the car (PAB 3984) that struck down Olivares.
The Police reported that the car was proceeding west along the southern side of Meten-Meer-Zorg public road at a normal speed while Olivares was proceeding in the same direction ahead the car.
The woman claimed Olivares swerved into her path and she tried to avoid colliding with him but this proved futile.
The pedal cyclist was picked up in an unconscious state and taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Police is investigating the matter.
