A teenager was on Friday remanded to prison to await sentencing after confessing that he watched a woman buy a gold chain, trailed her, and then snatched it from her.

Keino Pluck, 18, appeared before City Magistrate Leron Daly and admitted that on October 25, 2023, at Commerce Street, Georgetown, he stole a gold chain, weighing 16 pennyweights, valued at over $200,000 from Shondel Jones.

Reports indicate that on the day in question, the victim had just purchased the gold chain from a jeweller in Georgetown.

Pluck, however, trailed her and eventually snatched the chain from around her neck.

The victim raised an alarm and began to chase Pluck, who was apprehended by an officer a short distance away.

The News Room was made to understand that the gold chain was not recovered, and it is believed that Pluck may have swallowed it.

During the hearing, the prosecutor mentioned that Pluck had expressed a willingness to compensate the victim.

Pluck will return to court on November 24 to be sentenced.
