Guyana Harpy Eagles secured a vital win to enhance their chances of a semi-final spot in the ongoing Regional Super50 tournament.

On Sunday, they defeated the formidable Barbados Pride by 56 runs at UWI-Spec, Trinidad and Tobago.

Sherfane Rutherford’s good form continued as his 74 led the recovery of Harpy Eagles to 202 all out, after which the spinners pulled it back after a positive start by Pride.

Gudakesh Motie (5-17) and Kevin Sinclair (3-30) combined to take eight wickets for 47 runs in 19.5 overs, which stymied Pride after the shot-filled 64 (9x4s; 1×6) from 63 balls by Kyle Mayers.

Roston Chase (25) and Kraigg Brathwaite (17) were the other scores of mention as Shai Hope was bowled first ball by Motie.

Earlier, Harpy Eagles produced another feeble batting performance as they limped to 202 all out.

Rutherford again was the savior as he smashed four fours and four maximums in his 70-ball innings that dug the Eagles out of a heap of trouble along with Kemol Savory with a composed 35 from 66 balls.

Leg-spinner Javed Leacock bagged 3-30, while Raymon Reifer took 3-38 against his former teammates.

Additionally, Guyanese pacer Shamar Joseph made his List A debut in the match after replacing the injured Ronsford Beaton in the squad.

Harpy Eagles face West Indies Academy at the same venue on Wednesday from 09:00h.
