Local comedian Kirk Jardine popularly known as ‘Chow Pow’ was on Monday released on $50,000 bail for allegedly assaulting his daughter.

Jardine, 57, of Greenheart Street, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown, appeared before City Magistrate Rhondel Weever and denied assaulting his daughter, Aaliyah Jardine to cause her actual bodily harm on October 27 along the Ruimvedlt Public Road.

The police prosecutor objected to Jardine being released on bail citing the nature, gravity and prevalence of the crime.  According to the prosecutor, the defendant slapped and cuffed the victim several times.

Jardine’s lawyer, Khemraj Ramjattan said that the incident was “unfortunate” citing that his client is a “loving father,” who at the time was trying to “deal” with a situation concerning his daughter.

The Magistrate granted the defendant $50,000 bail but imposed conditions, requiring Jardine to maintain a distance of 100 feet from the victim and refrain from contacting her. The case is adjourned to November 6, 2023.
