A 51-year-old taxi driver, Rollox Roberts Harry, known as Anthony Roberts was on Monday remanded to prison on three drug trafficking charges.

Harry, of Toucan Drive, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown, who initially appeared to be in good health as he entered the court compound, began to display signs of distress as he was brought before City Magistrate Rhondel Weever.

He began to slur his words and slumped in a chair, leaving those present baffled by his sudden change in demeanor. Despite this bizarre turn of events, he entered a plea of not guilty to three drug trafficking charges.

The charges stem from an incident on October 27, at Lombard and Princes Street, Georgetown.

Allegedly, Harry was found in possession of 571 grams of cannabis, 86 grams of hash, two grams of ecstasy, and six grams of methamphetamine, all intended for trafficking.

Harry’s attorney, Patrice Henry, made an application for bail citing that his client has a health condition, but failed to provide any supporting documentation.

During this time, Harry suddenly experienced intermittent audible discomfort, including groaning and burping loudly in court.

The prosecutor opposed bail, highlighting the seriousness and prevalence of the charges.

The prosecutor pointed out that Harry claimed ownership of the bag in which the drugs were found.

Magistrate Weever, in light of the absence of medical records and Harry’s alleged feigned illness, remanded him to prison. His next court appearance is scheduled for November 20, 2023.
