Police on Sunday said they are yet to apprehend the suspect in the fatal stabbing of Shawn Persaud called ‘Buckman’, a 17-year-old from Besty Ground, East Canje, Berbice which occurred at about 19:00 hrs Saturday evening.
The suspect was only identified by the Police as a fellow 17-year-old.
A statement from Police Headquarters noted that the teenager allegedly stabbed Persaud.
One villager told investigators that he heard someone shouting, “Buckman get bore” and then ran to the cross street in Adelphi Village, where he joined a crowd that had gathered.
There, he saw Persaud lying on the ground.
Persaud was taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead by a doctor on duty.
