ENet Caribbean Clash of Champions: Danny Persaud shatters Group 3 lap record

Danny Persaud drove like a man on a mission at the ENet Caribbean of Champions on Sunday, shattering the Group 3 lap record in the first race for that class at the South Dakota Circuit.

Powered his blue Mazda Miata, the #29 driver clocked the fastest Group 3 time of the day (1:21.583s) to significantly lower his own record time of 1:24.655s, set in Round Two of the South Dakota Grand Prix in July 2023.

The record was broken on the opening lap of the first race, and that set the tone for a flawless day for Persaud.

He comfortably won the opening encounter and followed up with another convincing victory in the second.

An elated Persaud said among his goals on race day was to lower the lap record.

“We’re happy to lower the record. That was our aim. We wanted to go faster,” Persaud told News Room Sport.

“The car worked well, we had no issues, and that was down to the preparation we had. I’m pleased with the performance- this one is for the sponsors and the fans.”
