ENet Caribbean Clash of Championship: Shairaz Roshandin makes emphatic return to Group 2

Prior to ENet Caribbean Clash of Champions this weekend, the last time Shairaz Roshandin raced in Group 2 was in 2018.

Buoyed by the great anticipation of the ENet Caribbean Clash of Champions, he decided to whip his #30 Honda Civic into shape and challenge the Group 2 competitors at the ‘Greatest Race of All Time’ at the South Dakota Circuit.

And like a true warrior, racing in this particular class for the first time on the extended track, Roshandin rose to the occasion to win the first race of the day.

The Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club’s Vice-President had a fastest time of 1:26.286s on the very first lap to take command of the race and dictate the outcome on Sunday.

Chet Singh and Shan Seejatan, among the usual frontrunners in Group 2, finished second and third respectively.

Singh clocked the fastest time (1:26.078s) of the race on lap three.

Unfortunately, it was the lone outing for Roshandin, as his alternator failed, forcing him to stay in the pit for the remainder of the day.

“It was good to be back among the Group 2 competitors,” Roshandin told News Room Sport.

“2018 was the last time I raced Group 2, so the other guys had some time to enjoy themselves. Now I’m back to challenge for the chequered flag. Unfortunately, we couldn’t make a clean sweep because of some mechanical issues, but just know that Shairaz and the Honda Civic is back and we’re coming to dominate Group 2.”
