Abject Harpy Eagles knocked out of Super50 Cup; title wait extended

Guyana Harpy Eagles limped out of the CG United Super50 Cup on Wednesday, soundly thrashed by Trinidad and Tobago Red Force in semi-final one at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, Trinidad.
Rocked by a brilliant opening spell from Terrance Hinds, Harpy Eagles could only manage 105, being dismissed with as many as 15.3 overs remaining.
An unbeaten half-century from the in-form Darren Bravo then catapulted Red Force into the final, extending Guyana’s wait for a regional 50-over title, the last of which came in 2005.
Red Force will now face the winner of Thursday’s second semi-final between Barbados Pride and the Leeward Island Hurricanes in Saturday’s final.
Batting first, Guyana’s innings never gained momentum, with Hinds removing Kevin Sinclair (4), Tevin Imlach (4), Shimron Hetmyer (3) and Kemol Savory (0) cheaply, and Akeal Hosein bowling Kevlon Anderson for seven.
Sherfane Rutherford (30 off 52; 3x4s, 1×6) and Tagenarine Chanderpaul (22 off 43; 3x4s) tried to put up a fight, but the early damage was too severe.
Richie Looknauth (0) Gudakesh Motie (8), Veerasammy Permaul (8*) and Nial Smith (8) were the other batters dismissed, as Hinds took 4-15 from overs and Yannic Cariah 2-14 from 2.3 overs.
Sunil Narine produced a miserly spell of 10-3-12-1 to mount further pressure on the Guyanese.
Red Force then marched to a six-wicket victory in 27.4 overs, with Bravo hitting an unbeaten 53 off 70 balls (8x4s) and opener Kjorn Ottley making 35 off 59 (5x4s).
Left-arm spinner Motie took 3-20 off seven overs.
