A 24-year-old barber has been charged with the attempted murder of a man he allegedly burnt during a fight at a Mahaica, East Coast Demerara barber shop.
Khamalnarine Jaggernauth of Unity Village, Mahaica, appeared before Magistrate Rushelle Liverpool at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court.
He was charged with the attempted murder of 22-year-old Rayad Mohamed.
Jaggernauth pleaded not guilty to the charge; bail was refused and he was remanded to prison. The case was adjourned to November 28, 2023.
Police said Jaggernauth was arrested shortly after the incident which occurred on Monday at Unity, ECD.
Police later arrived at the scene and found Mohamed lying in front of Jaggernauth’s barber shop. His body bore what appeared to be burnt marks.
