Herstelling woman attacked, stabbed multiple times by ‘unknown’ man


Detectives are probing the brutal stabbing of 26-year-old Jasoda Gocool of Herstelling Sea Dam, East Bank Demerara, who is now in critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
The incident occurred on Tuesday at about 06:00 hrs on the Herstelling Public Road, East Bank Demerara. Police described the attack as a “random act by an unknown man”.
Police Headquarters reported that the woman and a female friend were heading out of a street when a male, dressed in all black clothing, hugged her from behind and stabbed her several times.
After committing the act, the suspect escaped in a white car (model, made, and registration number unknown).
The victim was subsequently picked up by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre, where she was seen by a doctor on duty.
She was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery for several stab wounds to her upper chest, back and left hand. Her condition is listed as critical.
