All public sector workers across Guyana, including teachers and members of the disciplined services, will get a one-off $25,000 bonus payable in December 2023.
This was announced by President Dr. Irfaan Ali on Thursday during a live briefing.
He said this will benefit about 67,000 workers at a cost of about $1.7 billion. Public enterprise workers such as those at the Guyana Power and Light (GPL), the Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo) and the National Insurance Scheme (NIS) will benefit too.
The President also announced relief measures for old-age pensioners and new allowances for teachers.
