As part of a suite of measures meant to bring relief to people across Guyana, President Dr. Irfaan Ali on Thursday announced that all old-age pensioners will get a one-off $25,000 bonus.
Some 72,000 pensioners are expected to benefit from this at a cost of $1.8 billion. This will be payable from December and adds to the pension they will receive for that month.
Similarly, all persons living with disabilities, who are on the public assistance register, will get an additional one-off $35,000 bonus in December. Some 19,000 people are expected to benefit.
