A student of the Golden Grove Secondary School, East Coast Demerara, was injured in a fight outside the school compound on Thursday.
The News Room was informed that the student was involved in a confrontation after squibs (firecrackers) were thrown outside the compound. During the confrontation, the student was struck to the head with a cricket bat by another student.
He was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he is currently receiving treatment.
The Guyana Police Force has been alerted and investigations are ongoing.
