Second straight defeat for Essequibo Coast/Pomeroon in NAMILCO U-17 football

In a thrilling match-up at the Queenstown Ground, the Essequibo Coast/Pomeroon Football Association Academy faced off against the West Demerara Football Association Academy in the NAMILCO Thunderbolt Flour Power Under-17 National Academy Playoff.

The game turned out to be an intense battle, with the West Demerara team securing a 3-1 victory.

The West Demerara FA Academy demonstrated their prowess early in the game, as Shakeel King found the back of the net in the 19th minute, giving his team an early lead.

This goal put the Essequibo Coast/Pomeroon FA Academy on the back foot, and they struggled to level the score.

As the game progressed, Finidy Miggins extended West Demerara’s lead with a goal in the 40th minute.

The Essequibo team faced an uphill battle, but they showed resilience and determination.

In the 45th minute, Rayon John managed to score a crucial goal for the Essequibo Coast/Pomeroon FA Academy, providing a glimmer of hope for his team.

However, they couldn’t maintain the momentum to mount a comeback.

King struck again for the West Demerara FA Academy in the 75th minute, sealing the victory for his team and ensuring Essequibo’s second defeat in the playoffs.

The lads from Essequibo Coast/Pomeroon FA Academy next play the Upper Demerara Football Association Academy from 11:00h on Saturday (November 11) at Wisburg.

This upcoming match provides them with another opportunity to showcase their talent and determination in the tournament.
