Man found with $95,000 in fake currency

Kenio Thomason, 31, was on Saturday nabbed with $95,000 in fake $5,000 bills at Fort Wellington, West Berbice.
Police Headquarters reported that Thomason was driving past the Fort Wellington Police Station, in motorcar #PTT 9098, when he was stopped by Police Officers for overtaking at sections of the road where overtaking is not allowed.
After he was stopped, the man was asked to produce the relevant documents but he reportedly denied and began behaving disorderly. He was then taken inside the Police Station.
Police then searched the car in Thomason’s presence and found nothing illegal.
However, when they carried out a search on Thomason’s person, they found a quantity of suspected forged Guyanese currency.
Thomason was told of the offence but allegedly grabbed the notes and ran to the back of the station. As ranks chased after him, he threw the fake cash into nearby bushes. Officers caught the man, collect the cash and tallied it. The fake cash amounted to $95,000.
Again Thomason was told of the offence committed and this time, he was arrested, and cautioned.
He reportedly said: “Officer I just trying a thing because me girl just get a baby and things tight, do a thing for yuh boy nah.”
The suspected forged currency was then photographed, marked, sealed, and lodged in his presence. Thomason was placed into custody and is slated to be charged.
