Inclement weather forces postponement of Guyana/Bahamas football match

Inclement weather forced the cancellation of Guyana’s League B encounter in the CONCACAF Nations League against the Bahamas on Sunday in the Dominican Republic.

Initially, the match was slated for Saturday at the Estadio Olímpico Félix Sánchez in Santo Domingo, but torrential rainfall forced the officials to postpone.

Heavy rains from a tropical system turned deadly over the weekend when urban flooding caused a highway wall to collapse.

Major flooding was already underway on Saturday in the capital city of Santo Domingo, prompting urban flooding rescues.

Local media and officials have reported at least 20 deaths since Friday.

No revised date has been slated yet for the match against The Bahamas.

Given the prevailing weather conditions, Tuesday’s match against Antigua and Barbuda at the same venue is potentially in doubt.

On Monday, an official informed News Room Sport, “weather permitting, the game will play.”

Match time is 20:00h.

Golden Jaguars need one point from these two remaining matches to seal their promotion to League A after a perfect record in this Nations League.

Golden Jaguars Squad:
