Guyana Under-17 female football team ahead of their match against Suriname

Guyana’s Under-17 female football team performed sublimely to defeat Suriname 3-2 in a friendly after trailing 2-1 at halftime on Saturday at the Police Sports Club, Eve Leary.

The visitors took the lead in just the third minute, compliments of Loe-A-Foe Samanie, and 16 minutes later, Klitngaaroc Shanora rocketed to the back of the net.

Despite the down shoulders and seemingly more goals left in the tank for Guyana, Tanya De Vair reduced the lead in the 23rd minute.

A brace by Nydel Nelson (37th, 67th) sealed a stunning comeback for Guyana.

The two sides battle again on Sunday (November 26).

The girls of both countries would have missed out on the CONCACAF U17  Qualifiers earlier in the year, so this series allows them to have four international games under their belt before the year’s conclusion.

The series will wrap up in December, with Guyana competing in Suriname on December 16 and 17.
