Two men, who were wanted by the Police for a series of armed robberies, were on Monday arrested and one of them was found with an illegal gun.

Police Headquarters said ranks from Impact Base, Brickdam were performing patrol duties on Hadfield Street, Georgetown when they observed Devon Griffith called ‘Spoony’ and Isiah Greaves, a 26-year-old labourer of  ‘B’ Field Sophia on a motorcycle without a number plate.

Greaves was the rider of the motorcycle while Griffith was the pillion rider.  Upon noticing the ranks, the men attempted to evade by speeding away.

However, the ranks gave chase and eventually caught up with them on Cemetery Road. A search was conducted on Griffith and a .38 revolver with the serial number filed off, along with one live matching round of ammunition and one spent shell, were found in the crotch of his pants.

Greaves was subsequently apprehended on Princes and Victor Streets, Georgetown.

Police said a search was conducted on his person but nothing illegal was found.  Both suspects were arrested and taken to the Alberttown Police Station.

The firearm and ammunition were marked and taken for ballistic testing.
