A 12-member Guyana squad is off to Grenada to compete in the forthcoming Grenada Rugby World Rugby Sevens tournament, set to take place December 1-2 at the Kirani James Athletics Stadium in St. George’s.

The team, led by Coach Claudius Butts and Team Manager and President of the GRFU, Ryan Dey, departed Guyana earlier this week and are already at practice in Grenada.

The squad reads: Jamal Angus, Vallon Adams, Kevin Grant, Scott Garraway, Tyresse Prescod, Akino James, Jonathan Garnett, Ronald Niles, Lionel Holder, Sean Phillips, Leon Cole and Godfrey Broomes.

Patron of the Guyana Rugby Football Union, Kit Nascimento, expressed his appreciation and thanks for the tremendously generous financial support from the Government, through the National Sports Commission, as well as support received from the Guyana Olympic Association, John Fernandes, GAICO Construction, ANSA McAL Trading and German’s Restaurant, without which participation in this tournament would not have been possible.

The Guyana team, now named the Guyana Rugby Jaguars, will play the first game, commencing the tournament on Friday morning against Atlantis (USA), followed by Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force and then the Misfits (Caribbean) on day one. They then take on FRN (UK) on day two. The tournament will then proceed to the semi-finals and final to conclude on day two.
