Pedestrian, 52, dies in accident at Hill Foot

Vishnudat Ramlan, a 52-year-old of 5 Kuru Kururu, died Saturday night in an accident that occurred at about 18:15hrs at Hill Foot, Soesdyke/Linden Highway.

A statement from Police Headquarters noted that the accident involved motor car [PJJ 807] driven by Jonathan Bailey, a 23-year-old of Kuru Kururu Soesdyke; motor car [PMM 2014], driven by Steffy Timmerman, a 27-year-old of Kuru Kururu.

Timmerman is unlicensed.

Police said Timmerman was proceeding along the northern side of the highway when she observed a male in the center of the northern drive lane and on seeing that, she pulled to the north.

Notwithstanding, her right side wing mirror collided with the pedestrian, after which Bailey, who was proceeding in the same direction at a fast rate, overtook Timmerman and collided with Ramlan.

As a result of the collision, Ramlan fell onto the road surface where he received injuries to his head and on his body.

He was picked up in an unconscious condition and taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Center where he was seen and examined by doctors on duty and was pronounced dead.

The body was taken to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Both drivers were arrested and are assisting with the investigation.
