Two persons are dead and eight others are injured following an accident on the Friendship, East Bank Demerara Public Road on Sunday morning.
The driver of the minibus, who has been identified as Keon Edwards called ‘Proctor’ and ‘Mad Dog’, is one of the deceased.
The identity of the other victim remains unknown at this time.
Police Commander of Region 4B, Krishnadat Ramana confirmed with the News Room that an investigation has been launched into the accident which occurred around 08:00hrs.
Reports are that the minibus was heading to Georgetown from the Linden-Soesdyke highway when the driver overtook a line of traffic.
During the process, the driver allegedly tried to swerve from an incoming vehicle when he lost control.
The minibus toppled several times.
The eight injured persons were passengers of the minibus.
They were rushed to the hospital.
