Jamaica’s Clarendon College came and conquered in unchartered territory, producing another stellar performance to lift the KFC International School Football title.

Clarendon virtually bossed the final against St. Benedict’s College of Trinidad and Tobago, winning 2-1 at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue, on Friday evening.

It means they head home with the champions tag, being unbeaten and becoming only the second overseas team to win the title in the four seasons of the tournament.

Daniel Clark (32nd) and Justin Hyles (53rd) were the men on target for Clarendon, while the Trinidadians got a consolation goal from Jeremiah Niles in the 80th.

The Jamaicans copped US$2,500, while St. Benedict’s won US$1,500, both prizes compliments of President Irfaan Ali.

In the third-place playoff, Guyana’s Chase Academic Foundation hammered Voorgezet Wetenschappelijk Onderwijs Four (VWO-4) of Suriname 7-0.

Bryan Wharton continued his goal-scoring spree with a helmet-trick, while Justin Alcindor had two, and Omar Sam scored the other.

The third and fourth place finishers were rewarded with US$1,000 and US$500 respectively.

Former champions D.C Caesar Fox Secondary (Waramadong), St. Ignatius Secondary, Bartica Secondary, and Carmel Secondary were the other participating teams in the tournament.

It is the desire of the Petra Organisation to have more Caribbean school champions compete in the year-end tournament in the future.
