Married Men and Bachelors play to entertaining tie in Lusignan SC Boxing Day game

Married Men and Bachelors played to an entertaining tie in the Lusignan Sports Club’s 11th annual Boxing Day cricket match at the Lusignan Community Centre ground, East Coast Demerara.

In the 25-over contest, both teams ended on identical scores of 265-9, which means that after 11 years of rivalry the head-to-head record remains 5-5.

Batting first after winning the toss, Married Men were led to their total by Sachin Ramcharran, who struck 10 sixes and two fours in 103.

Sakichan Jhagdeo and Karamchan Persaud struck three sixes each in 27 and 24 respectively, as Wasim Khan took 3-17 off two overs and Chandrika Harpaul 2-18 off two.

In reply, Bachelors got a topscore of 53 not out (1×4, 6x6s) from Kumar Bishundial, while Keon Franklin made 40 (4x4s, 2x6s), Rajindra Naikbarran scored 37 (1×4, 4x6s) and Mike Persaud 35 (2x4s, 2x6s).

Bowling for Married Men, Shazam Ali took 3-9 off two overs and Arif Mohamed 3-15 off two.

Ramcharran copped the Best Batsman trophy, while Ali emerged the Best Bowler.
