Rickey Boodram, a 29-year-old resident of Maria’s Pleasure, Wakenaam, died on Tuesday after an accident in which he apparently collided with another motorcyclist.
Police Headquarters reported that the accident occurred at around 22:00 hrs at Maria’s Pleasure Public Road.
Boodraam was reportedly riding his motorcycle (#CK 6068) along the public road. Another motorcycle, driven by Martin Adams, a 57-year-old labourer of Zeelandia, Wakenaam, was also travelling along the road.
According to information obtained from residents in the area, a loud sound drew them to the roadway where two motorcycles were observed with extensive damage lying on the southern side of the road.
Further facts about how the accident happened is not clear, but it is apparent that the two motorcycles collided.
The two men were lying on the southern grass parapet, both in an unconscious state, with injuries about their bodies.
Police were summoned to the scene and with assistance from public-spirited citizens, the two men were picked up and placed in a Police pickup and taken to the Wakenaam Cottage Hospital. They were both seen and examined by a doctor on duty who pronounced Boodram dead.
Adams, on the other hand, was treated and transferred to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he was further seen and examined by a doctor on duty and admitted as a patient suffering from a fractured left foot and head injuries.
Boodram’s body is lying at the Wakenaam Cottage Hospital’s Mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
