Police have arrested a 26-year-old man following the discovery of a plastic bag containing 41 grams of marijuana at his East Bank Demerara (EBD) house.
According to a police report, the discovery was made between 09:30 hrs and 10:30 hrs on Wednesday during a cordon and search exercise.
Police Headquarters said that ranks from Region 4B searched the suspect’s house during which they found a plastic bag containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis on a shelf in the kitchen.
The suspect was told of the offence committed and cautioned.
However, Police said he denied ownership and claimed that the narcotics belonged to his brother.
The suspect was arrested and taken to the Timehri Police Station where the suspected narcotic was weighed in his presence.
He is expected to be charged soon.
