Berbice business robbed of over $400k in items

Police are investigating the break and enter and larceny committed at the business place of R. Sookraj and Sons General Store located at Main and Church Street, New Amsterdam, which occurred between December 30 and January 2, 2024.

Police Headquarters reported that the 58-year-old owner of the store secured the two-storey wooden and concrete structure on December 30 and went upstairs.

At about 06:45 hrs on Tuesday, the businessman checked the store and observed that his office was ransacked and a number of items including cigarettes, Digicel credit cards, and electronic items valued over $400,000 were missing.

The probe continues.
