The Guyana Police Force is seeking the public’s assistance to locate Mwange Smith, 19, who is wanted for questioning in relation to the murder of Anthony Haynes called ‘One Natty’ who was shot dead at his Grahams Hall, East Coast Demerara home.
On Wednesday, the Police said Smith of Lot 315 ‘B’ Field Sophia, Greater Georgetown, was conversing with Haynes, 29, who was holding his two-month-old baby girl when the incident occurred at about 20:00 hrs on Sunday.
Haynes’ reputed wife Ronette Abrams, was at home in the kitchen when she heard Haynes saying, “Stop playing with the gun,” followed by a loud explosion and the baby crying.
On checking, she saw her husband lying motionless in a chair with a wound to his left side chest, holding their baby. The 19-year-old suspect was standing over him with a handgun in his hand, the Police said.
The suspect reportedly removed Haynes’ body and placed it on the road at Crown Dam, Industry, a few meters from where the incident occurred, and covered him with a sheet and left him. The suspect then escaped.
Cops found a gunshot wound on Haynes’ left side chest. One live .38 round of ammunition was found in the living room of the house.
The babygirl received treatment for a gunshot wound to her right inner shoulder.
