    Duo charged for Old Year’s Day murder at Canal #2

    Otto Pitman called ‘One Dan’ and Oliver Franklyn were Monday charged with the murder of Natram Persaud at Canal #2 Polder, West Bank Demerara, on Old Year’s day (December 31, 2023).

    They were arrested following an investigation into an alleged and robbery and the attempted murder of Manipual Ramberhak.

    Pitman, a 35-year-old of 50 School Street, Goed Fortuin, West Bank Demerara appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Vreed-En-Hoop Magistrate’s Court, where the charge was read to him. He was not required to plea and was remanded to prison until February 07, 2024.

    Franklyn, a 49-year-old Taxi Driver of 276 Parfaite Harmonie, also appeared before Magistrate McGusty at Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court where the charge was read to him. He was not required to plea and was remanded to prison until February 07, 2024.

    The matter was transferred to Wales Magistrate’s Court.
