A Trinidadian man, who is wanted in his home country for murder, was recently remanded to prison in Guyana after he was charged with the illegal possession of a component of a firearm.

The News Room understands that Naim Sammy also known as “Luca Brasi” and “Wetman Lewis” was arrested at the weekend after he was spotted at a city hospital.

Sammy was with his girlfriend. He was allegedly found in possession of a component of a firearm.

As such, he was charged and remanded to prison.

The News Room understands that Sammy has been in Guyana for some time evading law enforcement officials in Trinidad and Tobago.

Following his arrest, the News Room was told that the Trinidadian authorities contacted their counterparts here and informed them Sammy is wanted in relation to a murder investigation.

It is likely that arrangements will be made for him to return to Trinidad.

According to Trinidad media reports, Naim and his brother, Nester Sammy were wanted for the 2018 murder of Shaquime Williams.

Williams was allegedly shot and killed at the recreation grounds Harding Place, Cocorite, Trinidad on April 15, 2018.

While Naim continued to evade the Police, Nester was arrested in July 2019, more than one year after the murder.

However, he subsequently granted bail but in October last year, Nester was gunned down in the Superpharm Pharmacy car park, Sierra Leone Road, Diego Martin, Trinidad.
