Lukinovich Theobald called ‘Redman’, a resident of Friendship squatting area, East Bank Demerara, was on Sunday arrested by police after a search of his backyard unearthed 1.95 kilogrammes (four lbs) of cannabis.
According to a report from the Guyana Police Force, ranks from the Grove Police Station conducted an intelligence-led operation at the home of the 42-year-old man at around 12:00 hrs.
It was noted that police received a tip that the man had illegal items in his possession.
A search was then carried out at the man’s house but nothing of evidential value was found. In the presence of Theobald, a search was carried out in the back yard when ranks found a black plastic bag in a clump of bushes.
The bag contained three parcels of suspected marijuana.
He is currently in police custody assisting with the investigation.
