Good-Hope Football Club champions of Essequibo Coast/Pomeroon Knockout Cup


Good-Hope Football Club won the Essequibo Coast/Pomeroon Football Association Knockout Cup final on Saturday, prevailing 3- 0 over Mainstay Goalstar.

The match saw an early own goal by Mainstay Goalstar in the 5th minute, followed by Kevin Padmore scoring a brace in the 18th and 80th minutes to seal the deal for Good-Hope FC.

Earlier in the day, Fabulous Girls triumphed over Mainstay Goalstar Women in a female exhibition match, winning 5-1.

The tournament’s prize distribution was noteworthy, with the champions receiving 100,000 and a trophy, the runners-up earning 75,000 and a trophy, and the victorious Fabulous Girls from the female exhibition match awarded 15,000 along with a trophy.

During the presentation ceremony, ECPFA President Marvin Pearson expressed his delight at witnessing high-quality female football and pledged to promote more female participation at the club level in Essequibo.

He congratulated Good-Hope FC for their determination to overcome their drought in the ECPFA Senior League to secure victory in the knockout cup.

Pearson also took the opportunity to extend gratitude to the sponsors, including Safeway Supermarket, Lall’s General Store, Green’s Variety Store, Takash Construction, Shashie’s Pharmacy, and Jaigobin Supermarket, whose support made the Cup possible.
