A 31-year-old driver was on Friday placed on $1M bail for causing the death of Port Kaituma resident, Julius Andrew Adams, who was struck down in a hit-and-run accident late last month.

Gladwin Joseph called ‘Menty’ appeared virtually at the Port Kaituma Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Dylon Bess.

It is alleged that on January 23, 2024, he drove motorcar, PYY 8713, in a dangerous manner to the public, thereby causing the death of Adams called ‘Greg’.

The accident occurred on Citrus Grove Main Access Road, Port Kaituma, Region One.

Joseph denied the allegation and was placed on bail; he was represented by attorney Bernard Da Silva. The matter was adjourned to March 14 for disclosure.

Joseph died a day before he celebrated his 30th birthday.

Reports are that his body was found with multiple injuries on the Citrus Grove Main Road. He was picked up and taken to the Port Kaituma hospital where he succumbed while receiving medical attention.

It is believed that Adams was on his way home when he was struck down.
