Madho Persaud, a 52-year-old driver of Riverstown, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon- Supenaam) was nabbed with small quantities of cocaine and marijuana on Thursday last.

Police Headquarters reported that Persaud was arrested at Walton Hall on the Essequibo Coast after he was caught with 119 grammes (or 0.2 pounds) of marijuana and 26.8 grammes (or 0.05 pounds) of cocaine.

He was arrested on Tuesday and appeared before Magistrate Esther Sam at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court on Thursday where he was charged for possession of the narcotics.

Bail was objected to by the prosecutor but Persaud was eventually granted bail at $200,000 for the marijuana and $100,000 for the cocaine, on condition that he reports to the Suddie Police Station every Monday at 09:00 hrs.

The case was adjourned to March 1 at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court.
