Schoolgirl beaten unconscious by brother

The Guyana Police Force has launched an investigation into the brutal beating of a 13-year-old girl by her 25-year-old brother on Wednesday at Arau Village, Region Seven.

Commander for Regional Police Division #7, Senior Superintendent Dion Moore reported that the incident occurred at about 06.30hrs.

Investigations revealed that the girl’s brother  has a mental illness, the Police said.

The girl was reportedly walking home when her brother, armed with a piece of wood, attacked her; he hit her to the back, head and face until she lost consciousness.

Public-spirited persons rushed to her assistance and escorted her to the Arau Village Health Post where she was referred to the Georgetown Public Hospital for further medical examination.

The suspect was arrested by Community Policing Group (CPG) Chairman Marshal Peters who escorted him to the Kaikan Police Station where he is presently in police custody.
